If you’re unsure about your look, yes. If you already know exactly what you want, maybe not. Here’s how to decide.
What a trial is really for
A trial isn’t a dress rehearsal for perfection. It’s a conversation with a mirror in it. You find out how a look feels on your own face, how long it lasts, and which details you’d like to change while there’s still time to change them.
When it’s worth booking
- You rarely wear full makeup and want to feel at home in it.
- You’re torn between two very different looks.
- You’ll wear a veil, headpiece or hair accessories that need to be placed and tested.
- You have sensitive skin and want to see how it reacts to the products.
When you can skip it
Many destination brides fly in only days before the wedding. If you have a clear vision, good reference photos and a thorough consultation behind you, your stylist can often prepare the look from a video call and fine-tune it on the morning itself.
How to get the most from yours
- Bring three to five inspiration photos, plus one look you don’t like.
- Show the neckline of your dress and any jewellery you plan to wear.
- Wear a white or neutral top so you can judge the colours properly.
- Check the result in daylight and take photos from a few angles.
- Wear it for a few hours afterwards. That’s the real test.
